Amman – The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor team met with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) in its headquarters in Amman, Jordan, to discuss permanent solutions for refugees such as resettlement, voluntary repatriation and integration into local communities.

Regarding Palestinian refugees in Syria, the Euro-Med Monitor team asked the DRC staff to call on the Danish government to grant these refugees passports, and to consider their resettlement in Denmark.

The two organizations discussed ways of advocating with the governments in the area to amend laws preventing refugees from working in specific fields, thus facilitating their integration into society.

They also agreed to the need to counter negative publicity about refugees and migrants with the many positive examples of their contributions to host societies—similar to Euro-Med Monitor’s youth storytelling project, We Are Not Numbers . Another need the organizations discussed is making legal information and advice accessible to refugees.
